Hello Reader ! β Already September π ! Back to work, school, and exams. I have just completed my certification in systemic coaching (3 years of training, over 200 hours of practice). It's time to reflect on the value of multi-layered coaching or leadership. If you are under constant pressure to innovate, adapt to new technologies like AI, or navigate complex ecosystems or trends, this is for you. Most people look for a specific competency: an expert or consultant, an AI trainer, or a coach for team building. Unfortunately, this siloed approach undermines the potential impact on your team. β Today, I will show you
Before we begin, how can I help you?
β β Get comfortable for your 5 minutes of sparks to hack. β β¨ Sparkβ β Fragmented mind and processes:Innovation and creativity come from connecting the dots. However, in most cases, leaders often address only one or two aspects, such as focusing on strategy but neglecting team alignment, or fostering collaboration within teams but overlooking external ecosystem engagement. It's amplified by the lack of cohesive support like internal coaches + external consultants + e learning. This creates fragmented minds and processes that reduce potential. β β β Misalignment of time spent vs needs: The Multiplier compassHere are the 4 dimensions you need to focus on as a leader. Each axis is built around a polarity:
β I call it" the multiplier compass" because, as a leader, the only way to have impact is to have a balanced and intentional way to spend time with your team on each axis. So the question is, where do you spend time? Let's explore how you can establish effective ways of working and develop habits to make it happen. And make your life easier π β β The 3 layersHere are the three layers in terms of team meetings, methods, and mindset to ensure your team is set up for success.
β β¨ HackLet's see each layer. You can use it as a checklist to self-assess your current status. β From strategy to product and services:We need clear strategies that transition seamlessly into execution. Effective methods and tools, such as Lean Startup, Design Thinking, Customer Centricity, Creativity Process, and Business Model Innovation, will give your team aligned mental models to make complexity simple. β β Process: AI integration and rituals :β Recent research (BR, July 2025, Amy C. Edmondson ) shows that the highest-performing teams donβt just start to design strategies and products (as per previous layer), they structure it intentionally. Your brain cannot work
As a leader, you can establish a clear, harmonious "rhythm" within your team. You can look for principles and expertise from Scrum, Agile, and individuals who come from or coach startups and small companies. It will ensure having a long-term vision and a short-term execution plan (as discussed earlier in my multiplier compass). Additionally, the integration of generative GenAI. Remember, the easiest way to shift people's minds is to show them how you can work differently with GenAI by working with someone who already does so.
βTell me and I will forget, show me and I may remember; involve me and I will understand.ββ Confucius So, if you're looking for external support, select coaches or consultants who master GenAI and use it with integrity. β β People, collaboration, and change managementβ The last layer is about people and emotions. Here you can look into mental model in systemic coaching (my new certification π). It blends psychological safety, decision making, feedback, communication ...and much more.
βBuild the people, and they will build the business.ββ Zig Ziglar It will helps to improve overall team performance and also co create with your customers (what if you have a systemic coach leading an ad board or customer discovery sessions?) β β Compound effect example -EUHTA in Franceβ Leading with these three layers in mind builds compounding effects over time because each layer supports the others, creating a robust foundation for innovation and adaptability. β β I coached a team at MSD for over 18 months on preparing for the implementation of the EU-HTA 2025 framework in France. During the project, we worked on the three layers and built lasting rituals and mental models. β The consulting and strategy helped to process complex regulatory requirements (layer 1), while agile frameworks structured team workflows (2) and systemic team alignment helped to clarify roles and communication (3). β So, in which layers do you operate the most? Which one would need more of your attention? That's it for today. See you in two weeks. Keep the spark alive, and be intentional :) What's up with me? β I could enjoy some time off in France (Bretagne - where the air and the water are always fresh π). I also reflected on the value of my coaching, what makes me "unique," and who my target customers are, hence this newsletter π. I am also preparing for a busy Autumn by coaching the new Access team on using GenAI, a team launching a new digital application for diabetes and an accelerator of AI for pharma R&D. β β¨ Ressources:
